Greece for their part already put up the white flag and payed back their debts to me so oddly a war that started with Greece lying about money now didn't even involve them and was instead being fought by 3 of the 8 Great Powers nations. This meant I only had to deal with Russia. Suddenly I had much less British ships prowling in the Mediterranean they were all moving elsewhere, likely to defend against the French overseas forces. Switzerland, my other ally, also joined in. Since there'd be no way to deal with two Great Powers focusing on me, I called up France for help, which they readily provided. Now things got worse, as somehow the Russian Empire decided it wanted to have a go and allied with the UK against me. They landed forces on Sardinia, but my dug-in defenders wiped them out with little issue. Fighting the transports took way longer than expected, and the big bad British navy arrived and squashed my pasta boats, outnumbering us around 4 to 1. I figured I wouldn't beat the UK on the open sea, so I tried to draw them into a ground battle and also try to strike at their transports before their bigger and slower man'o'wars arrived. It took a little while, but the real problem was that Greece was so wimpy that beating them up didn't really convince the UK that it was worth agreeing to any peace terms. Soon after that, Greece claimed to be bankrupt and refused to pay back loans they took from me feeling cocky, I decided to accept the casus belli justification and declared war on them despite them having the United Kingdom as their protector, as I thought I could beat down Greece before the UK became a problem.īeating Greece was easy. Meanwhile, the US civil war began a little early, and I made some small territorial gains from Oman as a stepping stone for colonization, seeing as Italy was late to that party. The Netherlands and Prussia finally gave up Guyana to France and settled for peace. Built up my military and infrastructure while watching things unfold in 1850 France went to war with the Netherlands and their big Prussian allies over the Dutch holdings in Guyana since they were my ally I offered our Italian troops as support and turned an early Prussian advance into Lorraine into a reversal all the way back across the Rhine and even into Dutch territory.
